Featuring contributions from students with expertise and enthusiasm across diverse fields of technology, the magazine seeks to inform, inspire, and encourage readers to explore the ever-evolving world of technology. Beyond its pages, RECURSION 25–26 stands as one of the defining accomplishments of the 7th Executive Committee of NDITC. It represents the vision, dedication, and collective effort invested throughout the session, preserving the milestones of the Committee and the spirit of the community it served. The realization of this edition was made possible through the persistent efforts of numerous individuals who contributed their time, ideas, and creativity. At the heart of this endeavour was Anol Dey Hrithik, Editor-in-Chief of RECURSION 25–26, whose leadership and editorial vision played a pivotal role in bringing this publication to fruition. RECURSION 25–26 is therefore not merely an annual magazine. It is a record of our journey, a celebration of our achievements, and a reflection of the legacy. We invite you to turn its pages, explore its stories, and experience the journey that shaped NDITC throughout the 2025–26 session.
Every second, billions of data points are generated as people browse, shop, and interact online. But who's collecting this data and how are they using it to target you with ads? This study is about the application of data science and database systems in digital marketing to offer personalized internet advertisements. The study reviews literature and analyzes current industry practices to explore how machine learning algorithms collect, store, and process consumer data to serve targeted ads in real time. The results show that modern marketing makes heavy use of behavioral data, predictive modeling, and automated decision-making for the optimization of advertising effectiveness. This creates huge value for businesses but also raises urgent issues of transparency and user privacy. The paper concludes by arguing that ethical guidelines and privacy-oriented technologies are urgently needed to make data-driven marketing work for people, not just profits.
